CARDIO!!!!! What are you thinking?  Necessary evil, or something that you enjoy?  Whatever is your favorite cardio, please look at it positively...not as a chore, or something that needs to be done. Cardio can shape your body, make you look great, give you sex appeal, and allow you to fit into those latest fashions you see in the store window!  Find an activity that will get your heart rate up, and bring you to a sweat.  If you're not breathing heavy by the end of your session, you didn't "hit the peak."  For years I ate WRONG, then "killed" myself with up to an hour of cardio, thinking that will fix all the pasta, white bread, occassional donuts and candy that went through my mouth.  Well, it did not.  The worse form of deception is SELF DECEPTION.  When you tell YOURSELF a lie, and you believe it to be the truth!  When you detox your body of all those harmful additives, eat correctly, organic as much as possible and do some intense cardio, you will see results!  Remember the rabbit and the tortoise....be the tortoise, slow but sure.  A one pound loss per week is optimal since your body won't miss it as much as say a five pound loss.

University studies have shown that HIIT is one of the most effective forms of cardio.  HIIT stands for High Intensity Interval Training.  Did you ever notice that most people around you at the gym doing cardio are NOT sweating?  They're going through the motions, day after day....AND NOT GETTING RESULTS!  The precious thing GOD gave us is TIME.  And most are wasting their time!  Albert Einstein stated that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting different results.  Well, for many years I did the same cardio routine, and got the same results...nothing!  HIT is going fast for several minutes, running, swimming, eliptical(my favorite), then going slow and hard, at a high level (hard level) on the machine.  If you are in good or great shape, then it has been discovered that 23 minutes of HIT is superb for maintaining your physique.  When you pass 23 minutes, your body could start consuming your hard earned muscle.  IF YOU ARE OVERWEIGHT, as most are these days I recommend 20 minutes of running or walking very fast, inclined on the treadmill, then 20 minutes on the eliptical, then 20 minutes on the lifecyle.  Do this 5 times a week, and with proper sleep and nutrition you will see results!  Once again, you want to bring yourself to a good sweat.

HERE'S ONE OF THE BIGGEST TIPS THAT I LEARNED GIVING ME RESULTS!  Always, do cardio first thing in the morning ON AN EMPTY STOMACH, having consumed a black cup of coffee...black...no sugar...no cream...no artificial sweetener. You can sprinkle some cinnamon in your coffee(helps burn fat, and regulate your blood sugar.)  Some like to take a couple of caffeine pills prior to doing "the burn."  When I have gone to the gym in the late afternoon, or evening I've noticed all the cardio machines are occupied...by the same fat people expecting different results...what they are doing is burning the food  consumed throughout the day.  When you do it first thing in the morning, the body has no food (fuel) in the stomach, hence it looks for fuel...FAT CELLS!!!  Bingo!  That's what you want, right?

LET YOUR CARDIO BE LIBERATING!  LET IT BE A TIME TO MEDITATE, REFLECT, CLEARING YOUR MIND.  READ, LISTEN TO MUSIC, WATCH YOUR FAVORITE PROGRAM....BUT REMEMBER TO HIIT, HIGH INTENSITY INTERVAL TRAINING, AS THIS WILL YIELD FASTER RESULTS IN LESS TIME!  DURING YOUR CARDIO, IMAGINE THE NEW YOU!  YOU'RE NOT "WORKING ON" YOUR SUMMER BODY...YOU'RE WORKING ON YOUR "FOREVER BODY!"  YOU ARE RESHAPING THE BEAUTIFUL ORGANISM, YOUR BODY, TO THE WAY GOD MEANT IT TO BE!

Make your cardio fun!  If you would like, take a spin class.  If you are ever at Gold's Gym, Downtown Los Angeles you could take a spin class with the "SpinMiester" of L.A., Marcus at 6am...probably the very best you could find.  He will whip you into shape.  No one comes out of that class with dry clothes!  Or if you are more independent, go for a good run in a park...but remember HIT!  I prefer the eliptical machine since it's easy on the joints, since running bothers my knees.  The stepmaster is great, or an aerobics class.  The lifecycle,(stationary bicycle) has been found to be the least effective of all the machines.  Swimming is great, if you can keep up the tempo, and not be slowed down by all the slow swimmers....once again, even in swimming, remember HIT, High Intensity Training!

ONE MORE GREAT TIP!!!  To assist in your weight loss mission, when you have completed your cardio, always try to wait 30 minutes to consume ANYTHING, but water or black coffee.  The reason is, your body is still "warm like the engine of your car after you turn it off."  So when you're finished, if you don't put food or caloric drink into your body, it's still in essence doing cardio.  During and especially after your cardio, drink a lot of distilled water.  We will get to distilled water on another page, but it is the purest and cleanest water you can possible consume.
