PLASTICS,PLASTICS EVERYWHERE! Why is there a section on plastics? Plastics are made from chemicals. Chemicals are not good for you! They don't belong in your food, and the chemicals that plastic is made from do not belong in your body. That plastic fork or spoon does not belong in your mouth!...it's made from petroleum...the stuff that goes in the engine of your car, not the engine of Gods' gift, your body! There is a dirty little chemical added to a lot of plastics called BPA. BPA, is an estrogen mimicker....ladies...it can affect your pregnancy in making your baby boy have high levels of estrogen. Many researchers believe it can contribute to breast cancer, and to the men in your life, prostate cancer. Babies are being born with BPA in their little bodies. Fat extracted from humans have BPA in them, it also exits with urine secretion. Over 90% of humans have BPA in their system. You can now buy BPA free plastic bottles, and if you go to my FAVORITE CAFE IN L.A., URTH CAFFE, your plastic cup is made from plants and is biodegradable! Almost all water bottles that you drink from have BPA in them...it leaches into the liquid when it gets warm or freezes. Nearly all cans have a plastic BPA lining to shield you from the toxic aluminum can. IT IS A CAUSE OF AN INCREASE IN BODY FAT AND OBESITY!

ALL THESE PLASTIC BOTTLES ARE TOXIC FOR YOUR BODY SINCE THEY CONTAIN BPA. SOME DOCTORS BELIEVE PLASTICS CAN CAUSE BREAST CANCER AS WELL AS A MAJOR CONTRIBUTOR TO PROSTATE CANCER! BPA can also cause infertility, obesity, diabetes and mental disorders!

ALMOST ALL CANNED FOOD HAS A THIN PLASTIC LINING ON THE INTERIOR OF THE CAN MADE WITH BPA THAT WILL LEACH INTO THE PRODUCT!....WHAT SHOULD I DO?...LIMIT CANNED FOOD IN YOUR LIFE. BUY IN BULK. MAKE YOUR OWN FOOD! STORE IT IN GLASS CONTAINERS! MEN, ESPECIALLY... YOU DO NOT WANT BPA IN YOUR SYSTEM AS IT WILL RAISE ESTROGEN, CAUSE YOU TO BECOME IMPOTENT, INCREASE BODY FAT, AND MAKE YOU LESS OF A MAN AS YOUR TESTOSTERONE WILL DECREASE AND ESTROGEN WILL RISE IN ITS PLACE!

So try to limit canned foods. also bear in mind that the acid from tomatoes leaches the bpa into the product, hence making it tainted with this chemical. purchase tomato sauce, spaghetti sauce, etc. in glass containers to enhance your health!

WHAT ARE THOSE NUMBERS ON THE BOTTOM OF THE PLASTIC BOTTLES AND CONTAINERS? Take a look, I'll bet you never noticed a number inside a triangle on the bottom of your "sports bottle", water bottle or plastic food container. By law all plastic must have this numbering system to identify its toxicity and whether or not it you can recycle it. (Some plastics are so toxic, you cannot recycle it!) They can identify the toxicity of the plastic by chemicals that have been used in the production of the container/bottle.

Plastics that are marked with the number 3 are made from polyvinyl chloride (PVC), which is a harmful chemical. Common number 3 plastics include peanut butter jars and squeeze bottles. Other items that contain number 3 plastics include teething rings, garden hoses and some plastic wraps. Number 3 plastics have been labeled toxic because PVC contains DEHA, which is a plastic softener. Long-term exposure to DEHA has been linked to cancer and other health problems. PVC also contains phthalates that are very toxic, and even small traces leach from plastic bottles. Phthalates imitate estrogen and disrupt the endocrine system, which can lead to a variety of health issues such as heart disease, infertility and cancer.
Plastic Number 6
Plastics that are labeled number 6 are created with polystyrene, which is a chemical that can cause adverse effects to the nervous system and brain. Styrene compounds are potential carcinogens that can cause harmful effects to the functions of hormones. Plastic number 6 is commonly used in plastic silverware, Styrofoam and containers for carryout food. The leaching of styrene is increased when the plastic containers undergo heat.

Number 7 plastics are typically made up of polycarbonates such as BPA or other plastics that are not recyclable. These plastics are generally clear and shatterproof such as hard reusable sports bottles and baby bottles. Plastics labeled with number 7 may cause detrimental health effects due to the presence of BPA. Numerous studies have concluded that trace amounts of BPA can cause a variety of adverse health effects such as endocrine disruption, developmental conditions and cancer.

Plastics labeled 1, 2, 4 and 5 are safer alternatives, but more research needs to be conducted to prove their safety. A variety of plastic alternatives are available such as stainless steel, glass and bamboo.
